Minutes for Denver Bassmasters meeting for Dec. 7, 2005
A Board of Directors meeting will be held on Monday,
Dec.19th at 7pm at Tom Grace's house. All members are invited. The major
agenda item will be discussion of 2006 lake selection and dates which
will be presented at the January meeting for a vote. Call Tom for
directions at 303-755-2111.
Jay McMillan, Co Bass Fed President, was in attendance
as a guest. Jay provided an update on the rift between BASS and TBF (the
Bass Federation, Inc). Until more concise info is available DBM has made
no changes in our commitment to BASS or the Federation as we have known
it. Furthermore, DBM voted to submit the requested $15 per member fee.
We are not yet committed to the additional $5 fee BASS has
mandated which has been extended to the end of March 2006.
The club (DBM) has also agreed to keep our dues at $65 per member with
the club absorbing any additional increases necessary to be paid to the
Federation.
Bass Pro Shops is holding a weekend of ice fishing seminars
Dec 10 and 11. DBM has agreed to provide manpower to help in the
operation of a trout tank which will be available to the public for
fishing for a fee. Saturday will be catch and release (except wounded
fish which the public can/will keep) and Sunday will be catch and keep
with bags provided by BPS. All leftover fish will be donated to a local
food bank. Bass Pro will provide rods, reels and lures and all required
equipment for the public's use. In exchange for DBM's participation we
will keep all monies charged to the public for our own club needs, i.e.,
Jr. Bassmaster program, Kids Casting, Federation dues increase offset,
etc.
DBM voted unanimously to move our monthly meeting location
to Bass Pro Shops meeting room on the first Wednesday of each month
beginning in January 2006. BPS is at 7970 E. 49th Ave., Northfield
shopping center (Quebec at I-70). Check newsletter for dinner get
together locale that precedes the club meeting.
The annual banquet is still in the planning stages - usually held in
early February.
We will be sending Dan Sawyer, our State Champion in
the 11-14 age group of the Casting Kids program to the semifinals at the
Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg, FLA in January.
We will also be sending our two state champions, Travis Spencer
and Tyler Rich to the Junior World
Championships which is held in conjunction with the Bassmasters
Classic to Florida in February.
C.A.S.T. (Catch a Special Thrill) will be held at
Horsetooth Reservoir on June 10, '06. Anyone who has volunteered in the
past knows the joy the disabled and disadvantaged experience at this
annual outing. We look forward to our usual strong member support for
this special event. It's as rewarding to the volunteers is it is the
families who participate.
Colorado fishing and hunting license fees this 2006 will require an
additional $5 habitat fee.
The Colorado State Team Tournament will be April 24 to
28 at Martin's Landing, Grand Lake of the Cherokees, OK.
The annual Sportsmen's Expo will be Jan, 19 to 22, 2006
